What does the initial consultation entail?
We set up a consultation visit to meet you and your dog to ensure compatibility. If you decide to go ahead and use our services we require you to fill out an information sheet. The form asks general contact information, vet info and dog characteristics. We also require that you fill out a Veterinary Release Form. Once you decide on a date to begin visits, a walker would be assigned to your dog and would come to see him/her at your home for 15 or 30 minutes, providing whatever service you require such as feeding, potty break and/or walk.
Are there service boundaries?
Yes, Canine To Five’s north and south boundaries are from Steeles Avenue to Britannia Road. East and west boundaries are from Fourth Line to Commercial Road.
How long are your dog walks/puppy visits?
Dog walks/puppy visits are available in 15-minute or 30-minute slots.
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, Canine to Five is fully insured and bonded through Horizon Insurance. All walkers for Canine to Five are fully bonded and insured.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a visit?
Canine to Five requires 24 hours cancellation notice for dog walks and puppy visits. Cancellations made less than 24 hours are subject to a $10 cancellation fee.
What happens if my dog gets sick?
As a precaution, if your dog is becomes sick or hurt while in our care we require all clients to complete a Veterinary Release Form. The information you provide us in the Veterinary Release Form will let us know where to take your dog should he/she require medical assistance. In the event your vet is a too far or unavailable, we will take your dog to the nearest veterinarian or Animal Emergency Clinic.We will contact the dog owner immediately to receive instructions before taking your dog for treatment. If we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact, we will take your dog immediately to the nearest veterinarian or Animal Emergency Clinic.
What kind of dogs do you care for?
Canine to Five accepts all dogs. However, we do not care for any animals with a history of biting, fighting or attacking other animals and/or people. We have the right to refuse aggressive, uncontrollable and/or unfriendly pets. Furthermore, Canine to Five has the right to terminate any existing agreements should your pet show any of these behaviours.
What is your policy in extreme weather conditions?
Canine To Five abides by the extreme weather alerts of The Toronto Humane Society. We will not compromise your pet’s safety, and in rare cases may have to shorten the visit. We will also not compromise our own safety if road conditions become extremely dangerous. While it us unlikely our service will be unavailable due to extreme weather, we will contact you or the emergency contact you have provided us should the situation occur.
How does payment for your services work?
For regular customers, payments are due the last day that services are rendered for the week (usually Fridays). For occasional customers, payment is required for the first visit of that week. Cheques are made payable to Canine to Five. Cash is also accepted.
